An Ounce of Prevention
by Jeannine Cook
Can you believe that there is
still no cure for the common cold or flu? But as moms we
have no time to meander over modern medicine’s mediocrity
or mishaps, for it is up to us to take the precautionary
measures that keep families maintained.
An ounce of prevention:
- Wash your hands…I mean it…hands
are the dirtiest part of the body…and the easiest
transfer system for germs…wash before and after
EVERYTHING…
- Eat your veggies…I know it’s
cliché…but with just reason…plants
enhance the vitamins in the rest of your foods…the
same vitamins that keep you healthy and save you days
of bed rest…
- Suck on garlic…stinky breath,
yes…but the cure to almost everything…yes
again…if you feel symptoms coming on peel this and
suck for a couple of hours…it may keep all your
friends away…but you’ll feel better by morning…
- Herbal tea…need I say more?...
- Exercise to keep the blood pumping…the
body sweating…and viruses dealt with…the physical
demand will increase your appetite…and give you
a chance to eat more green vegetables…
- Steam…take a hot steamy
bath…it’ll help you to relax…relate…and
release…the steam is also good for opening clogged
nasal and bronchial passages…and clearing your mind
for meditation…
Jeannine Cook is the mother of two of
very different children. The first she named Messiah. He
is a sweet and loveable little boy with lots of smiles and
playful energy. The other she calls Her-Career-As-A Writer
(I know that’s kind of a long name). The three of
them live in North Philadelphia attempting the most incredible
family balancing act. She insists that there is no sibling
rivalry and adores nurturing both children daily. For more
